I have been a licensed Master Barber for over 33 years. My interest in hair dates back for as long as I can remember. When I was 11 I was given a diary as a gift. Inside the front cover it asked your name, age and “What do you  want to be when you grow up?” I answered “Hairstylist.” By 12-13 I was fixing my grandma’s hair for social functions, and by high school I was cutting my friends hair.

I graduated from barber school, College of Hair Design, in 1979 and have been practicing ever since. I started my career in Nebraska City and in 1985 we moved to Colorado. This is where I really honed my barbering skills. I worked in a good old-fashioned, walk-ins only, and haircuts only barbershop. Ninety-five percent of our clients were men. We specialized in flattops, high and tight military, razor cuts and hot lather shaves.

After moving back to Nebraska I owned a salon for 15 years. At this time I sold the salon, went back to school and earned my RN degree. During this time I continued to do hair on a part-time basis. Being a nurse has held many wonderful opportunities and has been a great experience, but after considerable prayer, soul searching, and the much needed support from my family, i decided to return to barbering full time. I love barbering and take pride in the profession. I also love Nebraska City and am very happy to be back on main street and part of the business community.
